This includes healthcare providers, such as nurses and medical assistants, as well as individuals who work in industries that require certification in CPR and AED use, such as construction and manufacturing.

 

Additionally, parents, teachers, coaches, and anyone else who wants to be prepared in case of an emergency can benefit from taking this course. The course covers basic first aid skills, how to recognize and respond to cardiac and respiratory emergencies, as well as how to properly use an AED.

AHA HeartSaver® First Aid Training with CPR and AED FAQs

AED is a portable electronic device used in first aid for sudden cardiac arrest. It delivers an electric shock to analyze the patient’s heart rhythm and restore normal heartbeat. AEDs are easy to use and come with voice prompts and visual instructions to apply electrodes and activate the device. When combined with CPR, AEDs can increase the survival chances of patients. AEDs are not a replacement but intended to use with traditional CPR techniques such as chest compressions and rescue breathing.

The AHA HeartSaver® First Aid Training, CPR and AED course takes about 8 hours to complete. This also includes the skills examination.

Students will get an electronic copy of the Provider Manual, an American Heart Association certification cards and certificate of completion. A personal protective equipment will also be provided in the training.

  • Students will learn the techniques while watching the course. 
  • HSS Philippines also utilizes PowerPoint presentations.

The course is conducted by a subject-matter expert in first aid, CPR and use of AED. There is one instructor to 10 students.
